Son Takes Father To A Pond And Drowned Him In Baptism Style

Massachusetts. Son Had an Uber driver stop at a pond, and was accused of drowning his father in a baptism-style execution.

The youngster thought “Dirty Dan,” a demon, was possessing his father, according to the prosecution.

A Massachusetts man is on trial by jury for allegedly drowning his father in 2021 during a manic episode in which he thought his father was “possessed” and was baptizing him in a nearby pond. The trial is now underway.

According to The Patriot Ledger, last week’s trial will determine if 22-year-old Jack Callahan is guilty of killing his 57-year-old father, Scott Callahan, a senior vice president at Texas Capital Bank.

As per Boston.com, Callahan informed authorities that his father was battling alcoholism and that he took him up in an Uber when he thought he was having a drink at a pub.

However, the 19-year-old told the publication he wanted to have a cigarette and ordered their Uber driver to drop them off at a nearby pond in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home. Between the father and son, there apparently broke out in an altercation.

“He indicated that the victim had been punching him in the face,” Plymouth Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham said at the suspect’s 2021 arraignment, according to Boston.com. “He went on to state that in this incident at the pond, he believed he was baptizing his father.

He described that he was holding his father in the pond on his back like a baby, that he continually dunked the father’s head in the water about four to eight times, that when the father started to cough and choke, he would lift his head up, and then when the father started to fight and strike him, he would push the head back into the water.”

According to Buckingham, the son kept dousing his father in water “until his father was no longer struggling and floating.”

Authorities also said that Callahan had informed them that he thought his father was under the control of a demon known as “Dirty Dan” and that baptizing him in the pond would drive the demonic spirit from him.

Callahan “choked back tears” when prosecutors recounted the specifics of his father’s murder in court, according to a local WCVB story at the time.

Later that evening, Callahan informed investigators that he had “baptized” his father in the sea and that he had conversed with his body, according to prosecutors. “I left him there to make up his mind—he could either go to hell or heaven with me. I believe he chose hell,” prosecutors alleged Callahan told police, according to CBS News.

Judge William Sullivan of Plymouth County Superior Court told Boston.com that the trial will likely last around a week and a half.

In response to the murder charge, Callahan entered a not guilty plea.
