Family Of Junior Pope Releases Statement, Asks For Privacy

The family of deceased Nollywood star Junior Pope has appealed to the public for privacy and would soon announce the funeral arrangements.

In a statement released on Sunday, the family claimed that his death’s circumstances were “wholly avoidable.”

The late Nollywood actor John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo, also referred to as Junior Pope, passed away suddenly. The actor’s family has responded to his passing in an official capacity.

Junior Pope passed away in a boat accident on Wednesday, according to a report from Whitney&Spencer. He was traveling for a movie production.

Dr. Divine Odonwodo’s signature on a statement from the family expressed their regret for the regrettable event.

The announcement states that Junior Pope’s funeral plans would be revealed shortly.

In order to provide the family some solitude “as we grieve and mourn this irreparable loss,” they made an appeal to the public. Odonwodo clarified that the authorities would still be looking into the terrible incident despite the burial date.

The statement partly read, “We regret to announce the sudden death of our son, brother, husband, friend and very well-loved Nollywood movie star, John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo (Junior Pope). This wholly avoidable tragedy took place on the 10th of April, 2024 at Asaba, Delta State.

“Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family. While the authorities investigate the circumstances leading to this unfortunate event, the family asks for privacy as we grieve and mourn this irreparable loss.

“May his beautiful soul and the souls of all the victims of the boat accident rest in peace. Amen.”
